Who are the Adventure Bound Bumpkins? We are two regular people who decided they wanted to live a not so conventional life. We don’t have trust funds or high paying jobs; we have chosen to make traveling the world our priority right now. Our hope for our site is to inspire people to take a chance on themselves, to break out of their comfort zones, and have an open mind about the “scary” unknown. The aim of ABB is to share travel ideas/tips and stories, gear recommendations, wildlife we encounter, and life-hacks for on-the-road or busy-lifestyle living.
Initially this site started out as a way to share our experiences with our family and friends back home, but over time its function has changed to what you see today. We chose the name Adventure Bound Bumpkins because that is how we saw ourselves, two self-described “bumpkins” heading out on our first joint adventure together: living and working in Yosemite National Park. So if you have been with us since the beginning, or are just joining the ride, thank you. You guys keep us encouraged to continue sharing and exploring.
My name is Jared Taylor, and I’m a 30 year old biologist, robotics enthusiast, food fan, and have been dubbed a “sea otter” due to my love of being in water. Growing up I traveled around the US and Mexico with my family, and funded my first solo trip overseas to Europe when I was 18. Originally from San Diego, I spent my 20’s traveling, hiking, and camping around California. After studying at Humboldt State University, I moved back to my hometown where I worked as a Wildlife Biologist for over five years. I’ve visited 18 countries and am excited to see/experience more. My love of surfing and free-diving spurred me to visit waves around the world including Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Currently, I am exploring my new found interest in engineering and robotics.
My name is Sera Harris, and I’m a 30 year old travel blogger, biologist, coffee-aholic, and dirty hippie at heart. I caught my first case of travel fever as a kid from watching The Chipmunk Adventure and Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego. I’ve been curious about other people and places ever since. Encouraged by my parents to go for it, I studied abroad in Costa Rica during college and that experience solidified my love of adventure and travel. To date I have visited 23 countries and three continents, with the hopes of seeing and experiencing many more. My inclination for the outdoors led me into Biology, where I worked as a Wildlife Biologist in California for over five years. I have a passion for history and languages, and while I may have trouble remembering them, after a shot of tequila that little fact doesn’t stop me from trying.
